Dear Bishop Eric Leake,
DEVASTATION BY FLOODS - A CALL FOR PRAYER AND SUPPORT
Greetings to you, Bishop President.
On behalf of the Clergy and Laity of the Western West Africa Episcopal District, I bring you, our esteemed Episcopal Fathers and Mothers, notice of a dire situation currently confronting the WWAED and beyond. A few days ago, several hours of torrential rainfall swept across the coastal belt of Western West Africa and left in its wake devastating floods resulting in loss of lives, destruction of homes and entire communities.
While all the countries within the WWAED were hit by the storm, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Liberia appear to have suffered the most devastation. It is a very difficult time for most people in these communities as they struggle to come to terms with the devastation, the loss of lives and property, and the daunting task of picking up the pieces and rebuilding their lives and restoring their properties.
Currently, in addition to standing in solidarity with and praying for the affected persons, we are also still counting the costs and reaching out to identify members and churches affected by the floods to offer them requisite support.
We also wish to bring to the attention of our Esteemed Episcopal Fathers and Mother formal notice of the recent outbreak of Ebola in the Great Lakes Region, precisely Democratic Republic of Congo (North Kivu and South Kivu), and Burundi. Though the outbreak has resulted in travel restrictions, I have remained in close and regular contact with the leaders of our church there. To the glory of God, they are upbeat and confident of God’s abiding presence and deliverance.
In the light of these very challenging circumstances, we humbly and urgently solicit your prayers and support to help bring relief and divine comfort to the individuals, families, churches, and communities affected by the floods and the Ebola outbreak. Our faith in God is unwavering, and we are confident that God remains our refuge and strength and a very present help in these troubling times.
Your kind donations to help bring relief in the midst of this distress are appreciated. You can Zelle to bishopwwa@gmail.com and mark as RELIEF SUPPORT.
Thank you, and may God bless and keep us all.
Yours in His Service
Rt. Rev. Dr. Hillard K. Dela Dogbe,
Presiding Bishop, WWAED, and the GLR.
